Synopsis: Two young Mormon missionaries (Sophie Thatcher, Chloe East) find their faith tested when they encounter a charismatic stranger (Hugh Grant) who challenges their beliefs and lures them into a dangerous game.

Review: Heretic is a taut thriller that cleverly blends philosophical debate with suspenseful horror. Hugh Grant delivers a career-best performance as Mr. Reed, inhabiting the character's wry wit and snarky charm with ease. He's both terrifying and alluring, a testament to Grant's ability to navigate the complexities of this morally ambiguous role. Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East are the perfect foils to Grant's Mr. Reed, capturing the innocence and fear of their characters as the narrative develops. The trio's chemistry is what makes this sometimes ridiculous story work so well, their interactions crackling with tension and a darkly comedic undercurrent. The film's first half is particularly strong, relying on this witty and philosophical dialogue to explore the complexities of the visitors’ faith and doubt. While the film does stray into some silly territory in its later stages, somewhat weakening the arc of its story, it remains a highly entertaining and thought-provoking thriller.
