Synopsis: When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night, a community is left questioning what is behind their disappearance. Told through six intertwining perspectives — including central figures such as a teacher (Julia Garner), a bereaved parent (Josh Brolin) and a disgraced cop (Alden Ehrenreich) — the film blends horror, mystery and thriller as it unravels the unsettling secrets of the small town and a single mysterious figure at the centre of it all.

Review: A notably "bigger" and bolder horror vision, Weapons marks a clear step up in ambition from Zach Cregger’s previous work. Inspired by the episodic structure of films like Magnolia and Prisoners, its DNA lies very much in Cregger's debut, Barbarian, taking an intriguing premise—the disappearance of seventeen schoolchildren—and building a narrative of unexpected twists. This approach is undeniably engaging, especially in the first act following Julia Garner's character, which is masterfully handled and features unforgettable visual set pieces (not least the sight of a possessed parent holding a pair of scissors). The music is a highlight both here and throughout, with personalised scores telling each character’s story — a unique touch that contributes to the film's worldbuilding. Weapons is at its best when it shows and resists telling, leaving some of the mystery to the viewer. That being said, it remains impressive in its ambition and genuinely freaky in its execution.
