Review: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, a prequel to 2015's Fury Road, may not reach the dizzying heights of its predecessor, but it still delivers a thrilling, action-packed spectacle that expands the Mad Max universe in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Most of these laughs come from Chris Hemsworth, who steals every scene as the flamboyant and unhinged villain, Dementus, revelling in the character's over-the-top theatricality and dark, crazed humour. As his foil, Anya Taylor-Joy is mesmerising as the young Furiosa, embodying the character's cunning and fierce determination. Crucially though, Miller's signature brand of chaotic, high-octane action sequences are on full display, even if the CGI occasionally lacks the polish of Fury Road. While the film's visuals and plot may not be as tightly constructed as that of Fury Road, Furiosa more than makes up for this with its sheer sense of fun and willingness to embrace the franchise's inherent absurdity.
