Review: Air is a stylish and entertaining film that tells the story of the then unlikely partnership between Nike and Michael Jordan. While a seemingly uninspired story to those without an interest in sports or fashion, Air does a great job of telling its story with universally-enjoyable charisma and feel-good charm. The film is well-acted, with strong performances from Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Viola Davis. The pacing is brisk, and the film never feels bogged down by its historical subject matter. Another strength lies in Air’s stylish visuals. The film is set in the 1980s, and the costumes and production design perfectly capture the look and feel of the era in a way that is both playful and authentic. While Air as a piece of cinema is not the most revolutionary, it is still an enjoyable watch for both those with a respect for fashion, sport and popular culture.
