Release Date: 24th February 2023
Hot Rating: πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Synopsis: In a Georgia forest, a group of cops, criminals (including Ray Liotta as chief "bad guy" drug smuggler and his son, Eddie played by Alden Ehrenheich), tourists, and teenagers come together after a 500-pound black bear goes on a rampage fuelled by a large amount of cocaine it consumed.

Review: Cocaine Bear is a wild and fun ride, but it never quite embraces the true craziness of its story. Despite its setup of a drug-fuelled 500-pound black bear on a rampage, the film never fully commits to the over-the-top violence and humour that would have made it a cult classic. The large cast of characters also becomes overwhelming at times, detracting from the concentrated mayhem that our central bear brings. The bear is, indeed, a standout beast, brought to life with impressive CGI that doesn’t feel too fake. If Cocaine Bear had been released in the 1980s, it might have been a straight-to-video release, reserved for Friday night viewings with friends over beers or something stronger. However, released to cinemas today it falls short of fully delivering on its promise of outrageous entertainment. Nonetheless, it's still an enjoyable and entertaining film, especially for those who love a good creature feature.
