Review:  Barbarian manages to generally balance both comedic and disturbing tones, creating a unique viewing experience. Performances are perfectly wrought with shifting emotions, with Justin Long and Georgina Campbell perfectly portraying the comedic and terrifying aspects of their circumstances. One of the standout aspects of 'Barbarian' is its use of humour to alleviate the tension during the more intense scenes. This makes for a thrilling and altogether unpredictable viewing experience; one that shifts time and space liberally as it shifts between scenes. The special effects are also top-notch, adding to the film's overall creepy and absurd atmosphere. My only criticism is that Barbarian is sometimes too ambitious in its attempts to juggle time, space and tone. Individually, there’s plenty of great characters and narratives in this film, but these can sometimes feel underdeveloped over the film’s runtime. That being said, Barbarian remains a must-see for fans of both horror and comedy.
