Morbius possesses many of the underwhelming features of the Marvel universe, while also feeling disconnected from the MCU. In the DNA of Costa Rican vampire bats, Michael Morbius believes he's found a cure for his terminal blood condition. However, there’s one downside: the physician gets a craving for human blood. With its rushed pacing, this caveat comes across as common knowledge from the get-go, with no effort put into making Morbius sympathetic or engaging. Leto's portrayal of Morbius is laughably overcooked. The way he speaks is intense yet dull, with little substance to any of his quips. Matt Smith plays Milo, Morbius' best friend who suffers from the same terminal illness as he does. There is a strong resemblance between Leto's acting style and Smith's here; both actors overshoot the drama in their scenes. It has a few bad-to-be-good moments, but the vast majority is a lifeless lump of cringe.
