Jackass Forever announces itself as a nostalgic barrel of gross out gags. Those very same faces who made the show so popular over two decades ago still provide the laughs. Ringleader Johnny Knoxville, with Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze as co-directors, balances spontaneity with grounded set pieces to create the chaos. An outlandish opening sequence sees a phallic Godzilla reigning terror upon a city of feckless pedestrians and military members. The opening is brilliantly kitsch, introducing what will become a relentless picture book about violence, friendship, and bodily fluids. If you haven't yet been charmed by this concoction of adult humour, you won't be in this latest instalment, for the Jackass crew continues to rely on the offensive elements that they're known for. However, unlike the bones and body parts that the cast offer up for slaughter, this film rests on the ol’ saying: "If ain't broke, don't fix it."
