In her adaptation of Louisa May Scott's iconic novel Little Women, director Greta Gerwig surpasses her previous success to provide viewers with a film that radiates pure human emotion. Familiar Gerwig collaborators are equally brilliant in their performances, with Saorise Ronan excelling as Jo March, whilst Timothee Chalamet is a revelation as her friend, Laurie. Without a careful direction, such talent may have been lost in the midst of frocks and wigs, but Gerwig balances all aspects of the film, including Alexander Derplatz score and Jess Gonchor's luscious production design.
