Satirist filmmaker Christopher Morris is back with The Day Shall Come. The drama about a Miami preacher, whose dealings with an FBI informant get him in hot water, has similar features of Morris' previous work, Four Lions; the craziness and the comradery of those who follow Moses' (MarchΓ‘nt Davis) 'Star of Six' is reminiscent of the jihadists, whose friendship and misguided beliefs were weighed equal. In this latest feature, Morris finds new ways to channel the humanity of his characters, and displays their misfortunes as a product of the flaws of the American legal system. Whilst the film declares that its tale is based off 'one hundred stories', Morris has stated that this figure is much closer to three hundred in reality. With this damning bit of info in his comic arsenal, the writer-director never lets the audience forget the shocking truth that underpins the hilarity of the events shown.
