Director: Anthony and Joe Russo
Writers: Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (screenplay); Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (based on the Marvel comics by)
Release Date: 26th April 2019
Hot Rating: 💥💥💥💥
After the gargantuan spectacle of Infinity War (2018), Marvel returns with an epic flick that will conclude the Avengers timeline. The Russo brothers navigate their way through a bombastic timeline that sees the Avengers beginning in a bleak post-infinity war world, time-travelling back to the depths of the past, and finally facing the antagonist, Thanos (Josh Brolin). The film also inspects the Avengers' poster boys, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark, who are portrayed as the troubled heroes behind their respective Captain America and Iron Man titles. Whilst Infinity War had the challenge of introducing all of the Marvel characters, Endgame manages to succinctly unify this arsenal of superheroes without losing sight of their role in the narrative itself. The three-hour running time proves a touch stretching in the final third, where bombastic action trumps character development, but the film otherwise succeeds in concluding a larger-than-life story with excitement and honour.
