In the latest instalment of Black Mirror, writer Charlie Brooker pushes his dystopian landscape to new, interactive lengths. The story of a young games designer adapting a mysterious fantasy novel spans out into many potential realities that audiences can choose from. Where previous criticisms of the show point toward its nihilistic standpoint, Bandersnatch offers such a scope of themes that viewers emotions are never restricted. With a rumoured five possible conclusions ranging from the morbid, to absurd and weirdly melancholic, 'Bandersnatch' is an eclectic vision on the broad ideas of obsession and paranoia. A further inspection, however, even with the most unique of audience choices, identifies issues of absent mothers and depression. Nonetheless, perhaps a thematic analysis is missing the whole point of such a rich piece of concept art. The drama doesn't come from the content, but rather the self-reflection that comes from having an influence on said content.
