'Terminal' - 💥

Director: Vaugh Stein
Writer: Vaugh Stein
Release Date: 11th May 2018
Hot Rating: 💥

After the intriguing and altogether mysterious press release for Vaugh Stein's directional debut, 'Terminal', one could have predicted the film's equally allusive plot. In this narrative, we follow 'Annie' (Margot Robbie), a devious femme fatale sought out on vengeance in an almost dystopian, anonymous city. Who Annie is up against, and what exactly for, remains a mystery for much of the film. However, through some melodramatic dialogue and ridiculous plot twists, viewers are exposed to the many strands of the film's story. Perhaps if Stein wasn't so intent on jumping the gun and delivering these bombastic surprises so early in the action, there would have actually been an air of genuine mystery to the conclusion. Nonetheless, what is perhaps most frustrating is that despite the film's vibrant photography, these visuals are only filling in for the crude and cluttered violence that goes on throughout. As such, the film is a mess, albeit a slightly aesthetic mess at that.
