'Deadpool 2' is a sequel that comfortably extends the loveable traits of its predecessor. These traits most namely include vulgar humour and hyperviolent actions sequences. As is often the case with a sequel that resists expansion into wider technical fields, 'Deadpool 2' leaves some to be admired by the way it repeats scenes of pseudo-anarchical wit and blood splatter. With this being said, the extended budget and clear directorial presence of action aficionado David Leitch ('John Wick', 'Atomic Blonde') make for an entertaining experience, albeit encased in a film that audiences will be well-accustomed to after 'Deadpool' (2016) and its contemporary 'Kick-Ass' (Matthew Vaughn, 2013). However, the newfound emotional tenderness of our knife-wielding superhero is an unnecessary innovation that Leitch and his extended writing team bring to the table. As such, even Deadpool himself appears uneasy in the sugar-coated themes of romance and family that pervade the film's dialogue scenes.
