The presence of the uber eccentric aspiring movie star and film director, Tommy Wiseau, and his equally prolific feature-length debut 'The Room' (2003) has, until now, received a cult following from film enthusiasts and online bloggers alike. Of one more notable fan, James Franco has given a new comic life to the 'so-bad-it's-good' drama, of which his new film tells the story behind the highly bizarre film production. In Tommy (James Franco) and sidekick, Greg (Dave Franco), the brothers execute the roles with superb precision. Admittedly, such attention to Wiseau's mannerisms and vocal expression turns excessive, as Franco's performance sometimes blurs the line of pastiche toward Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood' (1994). Nonetheless, the narrative itself is paced brilliantly. In such, the concluding scene-by-scene comparison to its source material showcases Franco's love of the cult classic, of which Wiseau notes himself, is a true example of 'The American Dream'.
