Synopsis: When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race against the clock begins as White House officials, led by the President (Idris Elba) and military communications lead Captain Olivia Walker (Rebecca Ferguson), scramble to determine who is responsible and how to respond, all within a matter of minutes.

Review: Kathryn Bigelow returns to the small (Netflix) screen with a tense nuclear-threat thriller that reunites her with the ticking-clock intensity of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. The performances across its sprawling ensemble, Elba and Ferguson chief among them, are assured, and the editing generates a genuine sense of tense, propulsive movement between the film's various high-stakes rooms. Yet, for all its craft, the film seemingly doesn't know what to do with its own tension, a statement I never thought I'd level at a director whose work is almost always defined by the exact structure of build, drama, payoff. Here, Bigelow has cooked up something dense and topical, but ultimately hollow, devoid of the cinematic heart or narrative logic that anchored her best work.
