Synopsis: Picking up decades after the original 2003 film, mother and daughter Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna (Lindsay Lohan) are back, facing a new set of challenges that once again put their relationship to the ultimate test. When a magical mix-up causes them to swap bodies with a new generation—including Anna's daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and the Lily (Sophia Hammons), the daughter of her love interest Ethan (Manny Jacinto)—they must navigate the chaos of each other's lives while learning to understand one another all over again.
Review: Freakier Friday is a sequel that understands its strengths. It’s a return to familiar family-comedy territory, and while it's not a masterful piece of cinema, it's pleasantly enjoyable. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan both bring a welcome maturity to their roles, demonstrating how their characters have evolved without ever stealing the limelight. The supporting cast, including Sophia Hammons, Julia Butters and Manny Jacinto as the love interest, also shine in their own right. The film is clear with its intentions; it doesn't try to be something it's not and instead leans into the best elements of the original, from the chaotic physical comedy to the joyful musical needle drops. This all works to reignite the fun of the premise, making for a pleasant and entertaining family film. It’s not a franchise that necessarily needed to return, but it does so in a way that feels pleasant and enjoyable enough.
