Review: The Fall Guy is a solid blockbuster. While the film takes a while to find its footing, stumbling through a familiar action-comedy formula, it does eventually find its stride. Driving the narrative is Gosling and Blunt, whose playful banter injects much-needed levity into the, often, predictable plot. That’s to say, the action sequences remain the highlight, here, showcasing the exhilarating stunts that director David Leitch has become known for. Leitch's blend of practical stunts and slick choreography comes to fruition in the film’s Aussie setting, with one great set piece seeing a chase through the streets of Sydney atop a rubbish truck. This is one of a series of physically engaging scenes that highlight the director’s experience as a seasoned stuntman. For these reasons, while the film's plot may feel a bit recycled, borrowing elements from countless other action-comedies, The Fall Guy still succeeds in delivering a fun cinema experience.
