Review: Avatar: Way of the Water is a visual feast that is wholly immersive. However, the plot feels contrived, and the film struggles to establish a genuine connection between characters. Despite this, the performances by the cast, including Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, are admirable, and their chemistry adds some depth to their journey. The film's strong point lies in the stunning underwater visuals and creative creatures that are mesmerising to watch. The score by James Horner is also beautifully executed and sets the tone for the entire film. James Cameron’s underwater utopia is certainly impressive, but the storyline that accompanies it does begin to sag over this 3+ hour epic. The director has created a respectable sequel, worth watching for its visuals, but less so for everything else; similar to its predecessor, Way of the Water will undoubtedly be remembered more for its technical wizardry than its plot or characters.
