Whether it's the bush fires that savaged the Australian forests at the start of the year, the civil unrest that unfolded after the brutal murder of George Floyd or, indeed, the virus that has put all of civilisation on hold, last year really was awful. Amidst this shitstorm, Death to 2020 is nevertheless a deeply disappointing occurrence. Despite being promoted as the creation of British satirists Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones – renowned for their work on Black Mirror –  the TV special lacks any of the same wit of this previous collaboration. A host of caricature celebrities pitch in to comment on just how bad the year was, but nothing lands, and the results are cringy. Its only asset is its trim 70 minute running time, which means it'll be over in about the same time as a root canal surgery takes. Sadly, it won't be any less painful.
