Director: J.A. Bayona
Writer: Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly
Release Date: 6th June 2018
Hot Rating: 💥💥
'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' attempts to guide its audiences into a new age of the franchise, but ultimately ends up reducing the spectacle that its predecessor achieved. This shortcoming is made evident through the film's interior environments, in particular, the Lockwood mansion (James Cromwell). Even when the action reaches its peak later scenes, this location remains uneventful compared to the theme park iconography of Jurassic World. The performances from Chris Pratt and Bryce Hollard are passable, if not a bit overdrawn at times, yet the two actors really excite when they share the frame together. In a similar essence, we rely on the giddy performance of newcomer Justice Smith as the tech programmer, Franklin Webb to provide the humour this time around. That being said, this sheltered humour is reflective of the onscreen action which, beyond its piercing sound and momentum, feels all too familiar to provoke any real excitement.
