Hot Rating: π₯π₯π₯π₯
In 'Infinity War', Marvel provide their darkest film to date, an achievement that is established through a brutal opening sequence. This drama is emphasised by a tentative balance between humour and hopelessness, the latter of which is exposed by the villain, Thanos (Josh Brolin). Brolin's well-paced dialogue ensures that this titan has brains amongst his huge stature, providing a character who is equal parts villain and genius. Such a deadly combination has expectedly dangerous consequences for the Avengers, as is exposed through many superb action sequences. These moments are well choreographed and iterate the Russo's success in bringing together a supposed sixty-four main characters. The editing sometimes flits between these battles too suddenly yet, as the intensity rises, viewers are exposed to the emotional blow delivered in the conclusion. Amongst the elaborate effects and cinematography, this finale illustrates the ability of mainstream cinema to shock even its widest viewership.
