Director: Olivier Assayas
Writer: Olivier Assayas
Release Date: 17th March 2017
Hot Rating:💥💥💥💥
In Olivier Assayas' (Clouds of Sils Maria, 2014) latest mystery, Kirsten Stewart (Maureen) excels as the peculiar personal shopper who is disturbed by both the spirit of her deceased brother, and the cold-blooded murder of her employer. To say the film is reliant upon its complex lead character may be reductive, but it is somewhat true, for when it reaches it's most intimate scenes, so does Stewart deploy her expertise skills as an actor. Those who may have come into the film expecting conventional horror intensity may find its pacing frustrating. However, their perseverance is rewarded by the perverse psychological developments of Stewart's role, which is so tortured that every consequence is met with a sincere reaction. With some delicate camera work from Yorick Le Saux ('I am Love', 2009), and an equally quaint soundtrack, the film never strays from its protagonist's troubled journey, obtaining our intrigue in the process.
